Men's Breakfast on January 5th will be opening it's doors to everyone, not just men for this special event.
Rafael Cruz, the nationally well-known patriot and father of US Senator Ted Cruz of Texas will be speaking at the Men’s Breakfast at Sierra Pines Church at 8:30 AM on the 5th of January.
He will also be speaking at Yosemite Lakes Community Church in YLP at 7:00 PM Saturday Evening on the 5th of January.
Rafael Cruz was born in Cuba in 1939. As a teenager he joined the Cuban Revolution fighting against the corrupt dictator Fulgencio Batista.
When Cruz was captured in 1957 he didn't even know who Castro was. Jailed by Batista for several days in 1957 he endured beatings for protesting and fighting against the dictatorial government.
Following his release he was followed in the hope that he would lead the police to the others in the revolution. Because of that threat he applied and was accepted by the University of Texas. He was able to obtain a student visa after a prominent attorney bribed a Batista official to grant an exit permit. Cruz arrived in the states with little or no English and only $100 sewn into his underwear. He worked his way through college as a dishwasher making 50 cents an hour and learned English by watching American movies. In 1961 he graduated from UT with degrees in Math and Chemical Engineering and obtained a job in the oil industry. Following a visit back to Cuba his eyes were opened as to the outcome of the revolution and he became a harsh and outspoken critic of Fidel Castro. Cruz said that, “Castro, the popular rebel leader began seizing all power, private property, suppressing dissent and brazenly revealing that he was always a Communist”. Cruz became engaged in US conservative politics as a grassroots activist during the first presidential campaign of Ronald Reagan.
Earlier in 1975 Cruz became an Evangelical Christian after attending a Bible study and having a born again experience. "The people at the Bible study had a peace that I could not understand, this peace in the midst of trouble. I knew I needed to find that peace by finding Jesus Christ." Following his conversion, his son and wife also became born-again Christians. He was ordained as a pastor in 2004.
Cruz works from his home in Carrollton, Texas as a traveling preacher and public speaker, campaigning as a surrogate for his son during the 2016 Presidential campaign season. Cruz said, "I have a burden for this country and I feel that we cannot sit silently." He continued, "It's time we stop being politically correct and start being biblically correct. I think we cannot separate politics and religion; they are interrelated. They've always been interrelated.”
Come and be thrilled by the driving passion of Rafael Cruz as he encourages concerned Americans about what can be done to return our nation back to the foundational principles that can again make America exceptional.
